Para-paraan is a phenomenon wherein clever problem solving is achieved with modest resources, often involving auto-constructed or “Frankensteined” urban and household artifacts. Carried out through improvisation and life hacks, it is another way to put diskarte, a Filipino brand of ingenuity.

Old umbrella canopies with their ribs removed used as a protective layer against heat and extreme weather for a dog house. To keep them draped over the structure, pieces of wood attached with string serve as weights.
