The mutual encroachment between public and private spaces is a widespread phenomenon in the Philippines, particularly in urban and peri-urban areas. From minor inconveniences to outright disregard of mobility rights, the contestable use of space is often caused by unchecked privilege as well as systemic failures in city planning and development.
